The School of Business is seeking applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Accounting
to begin August 10, 2026.
The faculty member will collaborate with other accounting and business faculty to co-lead the growing
Accounting program at Morningside University. This position will be responsible for teaching a variety of accounting courses, co-leading the
student accounting club, advising students (primarily Accounting majors) and networking with accounting professionals to help secure
accounting internships. The successful candidate for the position must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to high-quality rigorous teaching,
be energetic, engaging, student-focused, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrate a commitment to student
learning success.
Teaching & advising duties:
· The teaching load is 24 credits per academic year which includes a
May Term course once every three years (4 four-credit hours per class).
· Courses will primarily include courses at the
undergraduate or masters level in accounting possibly including Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting,
Intermediate Accounting I & II, Accounting Information Systems, Cost Accounting II, Income Tax Accounting, Governmental & Nonprofit
Accounting, Forensic Accounting, Auditing, Advanced Accounting, CPA Review, and Corporate Financial Accounting (MBA level) and/or other
courses as appropriate. Faculty will teach in the university’s general education and interdisciplinary programs as needed.
· Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through academic and career advising, careful
preparation of course materials, effective teaching methodologies, and informed critical feedback on assignments.
· Prepare
course materials and use teaching techniques including delivering content, leading discussions, team and project-based learning, and
conducting experiential learning opportunities in face-to-face undergraduate or online MBA classes.
· Incorporate relevant
technologies to improve student learning.
· Advise students on course selection as well as career planning, career
development, and other student success factors.
· Research with undergraduate students is desirable and supported.
· This is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position.
Qualifications:
A Doctoral degree in Accounting, ABD, or Masters
in Accounting or Business with a current CPA license and appropriate professional experience will be considered. Relevant experience and
preferred qualifications include: high-quality student-oriented teaching focus, strong interpersonal and communication skills, proven
history with teaching and student mentoring, teaching experience in Accounting areas at the baccalaureate or higher level, experience with
innovative instructional technologies, and prior for-profit or not-for-profit business experience preferred.
The School of Business
has grown more than 60% in the past several years, and offers majors in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Marketing, and
Accounting. It has a 99% placement rate for graduates and is experiencing growth across all its majors. The School is anticipating
groundbreaking for a new state-of-the-art School of Business building in 2026. The School of Business also offers an innovative, rapidly
growing online MBA program with specializations in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Business Analytics, Finance, and
Healthcare Administration. The School is staffed by 10 faculty members, most of whom have many years of prior private or public sector
experience. The School also serves as a local and regional resource to business organizations.
