Job Description:
The Basic Accounting/QuickBooks Instructor will instruct students according to the curriculum designed to assist students to build accounting knowledge. The instructor must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. The instructor will teach 6 hours/week for 10 weeks of classroom instruction. Two hours of prep time. The teacher is responsible for establishing a positive and welcoming classroom environment, where all students have the ability to learn.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
Interact professionally and respectfully with other employees, clients, and the public.
Work effectively as a team contributor.
Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and outside organizations.
Specific Responsibilities:
Plan and implement lessons based on the class level and course curriculum
Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and welcomes all students
Integrate online instruction practices and online classroom activities for students
Collect and track student attendance and testing data
Maintain timely and accurate online student records and reports as required
Communicate high expectations of learners and motivate them to persist to meet their goals
Possess content area knowledge and teaching skills required for subjects and populations taught
Qualifications:
The Instructor will have the following experience and attributes:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, finance or Business field.
Prior teaching in Accounting or finance with classroom experience.
Knowledge of adult learner characteristics and teaching bilingual and nonbilingual students via online classrooms
Strong computer skills
Strong communication and organizational skills
Experience:
Previous teaching experience in the Accounting, Finance or Business programs preferred.
Requirements:
Requirements Experience working with non-traditional students is strongly preferred. Evenings in person or online campus. Very knowledgeable with online QuickBooks, spreadsheets and accounting practices. This course is an introduction to basic accounting. Instructor will assist students to develop the practical skills necessary to record transactions in chronological order by using journals and categorize them by account using ledgers. The incumbent will also display:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as other office software applications
Ability to exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
Ability to collaborate and build working relationships with faculty and staff
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in accounts receivables, accounts payables and financial ratios to assist in interpreting a company’s financial position
Strong commitment to the delivery of student-centered academic advising
