Austin Peay State University’s College of Business, in pursuit of AACSB accreditation,
invites
qualified applications for an instructor position in accounting for the 2024/25
academic year. The successful applicants will primarily
teach accounting courses at the
undergraduate level.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Possess the
knowledge, talents, and skills in their functional areas, and in multiple
teaching methodologies including conventional, online,
hybrid, flipped, and blended
courses.
- Demonstrate respect for the diverse learning needs of students.
- Demonstrate the
ability to develop and implement curriculum objectives and content for
thecourses taught.
- Demand and maintain high
standards and expectations for all students. - Develop and implement evaluation and assessment techniques that are appropriate for
each course.
- Use multiple measures to assess student learning on a regular basis and provide
frequent feedback
to students relative to their performance.
- Be qualified under College of Business policy and consistent with AACSB standards.
Physical Requirements
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of
force
frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Required Minimum
Qualifications
- Minimum of an earned master’s degree in accounting, or in a related field with at least
18
graduate hours in accounting;
- Alternatively, Master’s Degree in Business, and 3+ years of professional experience
related
to accounting, and
* Classification as Instructional Practitioner (IP, defined in the appendix**) according
to AACSB accreditation
standards.
- A background check will be required of the successful candidate

APPENDIX
**Instructional Practitioners (IP)
classification requires:
o A faculty member had current and substantial work experience (generally exceeding
three years in a
supervisory role) related to the field of teaching at the time of hiring,
and
o The faculty member has earned at least six
professional engagement points within
the last five years.
The Professional engagement points follow: The experience must be within
the
last five years
Each full year of relevant professional work experience (3 points per activity)
- Directly related to the field of teaching
- Full-time employment
- Substantive in responsibility (generally should be in a
managerial role)
Significant professional consulting activities (2 points per activity)
- Directly related
to the field of teaching - Material in terms of time and substance
Maintain documented, active professional
certifications in the area of teaching
Other professional engagement activities (1 point per activity)
- Development and presentation of executive education programs
- Each year of significant participation/leadership in professional
associations (maximum
of 3 points per position)
- Each year of relevant, active service on Boards of Directors (maximum of 3
points
perposition).
- Completion of significant continuing professional education experiences
- Significant
participation in professional events that focus on the practice of business,
management, and related issues
- Significant
participation in other activities that place faculty in direct engagement with
business or other organizational leaders
- Publication of practice-oriented intellectual contributions
- Publications in trade journals
- Consulting reports
- Policy reports
- Presentation at professional (not academic) meetings
The number of adjunct instructors
hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department.
