Description
The Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting, Assumption University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice in Accounting with a strong background in taxation, beginning in Fall 2026. We seek an individual who brings both professional expertise and proven higher-education teaching experience to support our undergraduate and graduate accounting programs, including our MBA and MBA-CPA track.
This is a non-tenure track, multi-year, renewable appointment with an initial term of three years, emphasizing teaching excellence, student mentoring, and the practical application of accounting and tax concepts in a dynamic learning environment. Duties will include a 4/4 course load, participating in curriculum design and assessment, and advising students.

Requirements
- Teach undergraduate and potentially graduate courses in taxation and foundational accounting areas.
- Develop engaging, practice-oriented course materials that integrate current tax regulations, applied problem-solving, and real-world scenarios.
- Advise and mentor accounting majors, including students pursuing the CPA pathway.
- Contribute to curriculum development, assessment efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting and business programs.
- Maintain professional currency in the field of taxation (e.g., continuing education, professional practice, professional organizations).
- Participate in departmental and university service activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a closely related field.
- CPA or other relevant professional certification.
- Significant professional experience in taxation (public accounting, corporate tax, or related practice).
- Demonstrated higher-education teaching experience, with evidence of strong instructional effectiveness and commitment to experiential learning.
- Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching across multiple delivery formats (in-person, hybrid, online).
- Ability to integrate technology and data analytics tools into accounting and tax instruction.
Salary Description
$80,000-$90,000
