Description
Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time Visiting Instructor (or Assistant Professor with appropriate qualifications) in the Department of Business and Economics to begin August 15, 2026. The department anticipates a continued vacancy, and the successful candidate may be considered for continuation, contingent upon favorable review and the continuing needs of the College.
Applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States. Gustavus will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position. Gustavus is not an e-verify institution.

Position Overview
- Teach 6 course sections over the academic year. Typically, 3 in the Fall and 3 in the Spring. Two of the sections in Fall and/or Spring may be the same course. Primary teaching responsibilities may/will include Auditing, Intermediate Accounting, and Financial Accounting.
- Help cultivate a welcoming community where everyone feels a sense of belonging. We strive to foster an environment where people can be themselves, build community, learn, and grow.
- Assume an active role in advising accounting majors. Starting in your second year (2027-28), you will provide dedicated mentorship to help students navigate CPA requirements and professional career placements.

Prerequisites
What We’re Looking For
- MBA, MAcc, MBT, or equivalent graduate degree. (Significant field experience may be considered in lieu of a graduate degree.)
- Active professional certification (CPA, CMA, or CFE).
- A proven track record in the accounting profession.
- A clear commitment to undergraduate education.

- Prior experience in public accounting.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in college-level teaching using innovative, student-centered strategies.

What We Offer
Based on data from AAUP (American Association of University Professors) and CUPA (College and University Professional Association), we offer a competitive starting salary range of $51,000 to $61,200 for a 9-month academic year. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience, training, certifications/licensure, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibility.
