Position Overview
Lecturers serve as either part-time or full-time members of the
faculty in the School of Business. FTE is determined by the course load. Lecturers are a non-tenure track faculty
position. Teaching assignments may include undergraduate and/or graduate courses offered by the School of Business on the Lawrence
Campus, Edwards Campus, off campus programs, and/or online programs.
Lecturers serve as participating members of
departments and should engage in instruction-related activities beyond direct instruction. Examples include curriculum development
committees, course improvement initiatives, and advising.
Applications will be reviewed and placed in a pool to be
considered for teaching positions as needed. Applications will be accepted throughout the year. The successful candidate must have
appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins. Any employment with the University of Kansas is contingent upon
satisfactory completion of a background check.
Job Description
80% Teaching. Teach one or more courses in
Accounting. Courses may be required or electives, in undergraduate or graduate programs, and range from 1-4 credit hours. Duties include but
are not limited to: course preparation, instruction, consultations, and assignment of grades. Lecturers should abide by the area’s, School’s
and University’s policies and procedures.
20% Service. Participate in events, meetings, committees, and/or leadership roles as
needed to support the Area, School, and University. Specific duties will vary by individual. Examples include leadership of student
organizations, advising, attendance at school events, and working on curricular or other committees.
Required
Qualifications
For undergraduate courses:
Master’s degree in accounting or closely related
field.
A demonstrated record of teaching in an academic setting or a record of mentorship, leadership or
training experience in a professional setting.
For master’s level courses:
A
terminal degree/professional degree in relevant discipline, OR a master’s degree plus seven years of relevant
experience.
A demonstrated record of teaching, research, scholarship, or
achievement.
Must hold a current CPA license.
Preferred
Qualifications
A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching courses in
accounting.
A strong record of professional experience in accounting or related
field.
Ability to design and deliver new courses
successfully.
Strong ties to the accounting professional community as demonstrated by employment or
consulting activities.
