Department Information
The Department of Accounting & Business Law at J. Whitney Bunting College of Business & Technology offers service courses in accounting and business law taken by all students in the College of Business & Technology and academic programs of study including BBA in Accounting and Master of Accountancy (MAcc); and participates in the highly successful Georgia WebMBA.
Job Summary
The J. Whitney Bunting College of Business & Technology at Georgia College & State University, with programs of study accredited by AACSB and ABET, invites applications for the position of Accounting Lecturer. Candidates with a terminal degree in accounting are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
Faculty- Teaching/Instruction –
Teaching Responsibilities
* Full-time instructional load teaching in areas of expertise within the academic discipline.
* Regular course meetings and instruction.
* Mentoring Students.
* Other teaching responsibilities.
Knowledge and ability to convey current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.
* Faculty also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All Georgia College & State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.
Lecturers are expected to maintain appropriate faculty qualification status in alignment with College of Business & Technology policy and AACSB Standard 3.
Faculty – Professional Development –
Faculty are expected to stay current in their field.
Faculty – Service to Institution –
All faculty are expected to support in the advancement of the department, the college, and the university. Faculty members are expected to attend Department meetings and events.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Terminal degree in Accounting (Ph.D. or DBA) or a closely related field form accredited university; ABD will also be considered.
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)).
Required Experience
Some teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Record of scholarly activity, publications, or creative works.
Preferred Educational Qualifications
CPA certification is preferred; however, those holding other relevant accounting certifications will also be considered.
Preferred Experience
Instructor of record for college level classes in the related discipline.
Proposed Salary
Salary is commensurate with experience, with a typical range between $60,000 and $65,000.
