ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:
As full-time
faculty, this position’s fundamental responsibilities include teaching courses in the business and accounting programs (a yearly course load
of 27 credits) and fulfilling any accompanying duties as an Instructor at Lackawanna College. Faculty members are encouraged and expected to
contribute to the strategic vision for their departments and committees and participate in college-wide, academic affairs, and
division-level initiatives. Faculty members also serve as academic advisors. Faculty are encouraged to think creatively and innovatively to
propose ways to enhance and/or maintain programs and courses within their divisions.
This position reports to the Associate
Dean of High Impact Practices & Faculty Success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Delivers effective preparation and instruction in a range of business courses
using contemporary methods with a strong outcomes-based teaching model. - Teaches 100-400 level courses focused on Accounting
and other courses in business or management. - Develops course materials and makes them accessible to students through an online
learning management system (i.e., Canvas). - Conducts student learning outcome assessments and implements pedagogical and curricular
changes accordingly. - Actively participates in departmental affairs and division-level planning.
- Aids in the evaluation
and ongoing development of the business curriculum and program assessment to remain aligned with industry changes. - Serves as
an academic advisor for students during the semesters. - Encourages students to become active participants in the field of
business through internships, employment opportunities, networking, service learning, etc. - Develops approaches to meet the
changing needs of an increasingly technological workplace. This could include external partnerships with local organizations, new courses,
and other ideas to best serve the needs of our students. - Pursues professional and personal growth to demonstrate the importance of
continual learning to our students, and to share valuable insights with colleagues. - Contributes to the College community
through participation in College-sponsored functions and events. - Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrated successful classroom experience at the college level using engaging, meaningful lessons and assessments.
- Comfort
with including technology in the classroom. - Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective working
relationships with students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. - Knowledge of current
trends in post-secondary education and a willingness to incorporate them into lessons, materials, and assessments. - Proficient
computer skills. - Excellent oral and written communication skills.
EDUCATION:
- Master’s degree in business administration
or a business-related field required (doctoral degrees preferred). - Degree in accounting preferred.
- Degrees in
progress: To be conferred on or before December 2026 will be considered, provided the applicant also submits required information
(transcripts, course program, etc.).
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum three (3) years’ teaching experience at the college level, in at least three
areas of business (Preference will be given to candidates with a background in accounting) - Experience teaching online is helpful
but not required.
