IGNOU has extended July 2026 re-registration to September 15, 2026. A late fee of Rs 200 now applies. The window covers all Open and Distance Learning and Online programmes. Learners should apply early to secure their next semester and avoid payment rush. This extension offers a final buffer for fee planning and assignment scheduling.
Re-registration is only for existing learners moving to the next semester or year. It is distinct from fresh admission for new applicants. IGNOU clarifies that re-registration fees are non-refundable. If online re-registration is unavailable for your programme, contact your Regional Centre. Fresh admission remains open on separate portals and follows different document rules.

Steps to complete IGNOU re-registration now
Register or login on the Re-registration Portal using your enrolment and credentials. Verify email and mobile, then open the re-registration form. Choose courses strictly as per your Programme Guide to avoid academic delays. Preview details, accept the declaration, and pay the programme fee online. Save the receipt, keep a printout, and watch for SMS and email confirmations.
Payment modes, OTP problems and status checks
Use your own UPI, net banking, or card; BHIM works as well. If payment does not reflect, wait a day before attempting another transaction. Duplicate payments are refunded automatically for the same application. Not receiving OTP or forgetting credentials requires Regional Centre assistance for resets. Check “My Transactions” for status, and view re-registration history on the Student Portal.
Re-registration vs fresh admission: documents and photo/signature rules
Re-registration usually does not ask for fresh photo or signature uploads. Fresh admission requires a recent photograph and signature, each under 100 KB in JPG. New applicants must apply on the Admission Portals, not the re-registration page. Complete your re-registration well before September 15, 2026 to avoid last-minute errors.
