ABOUT
THE POSITION
The Long Beach Community College District is looking to hire one (1) full-time tenure track Accounting
Instructor commencing with the Fall 2026 semester. The primary teaching assignment involves instructing a variety of courses in the
Accounting field. The teaching assignment may be at our beautiful Liberal Arts campus, state of the art Trade, Tech and Community Learning
campus or other college teaching locations. Assignment may be day, evening, weekend, on-line and are subject to change as needed. Long Beach

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s in accountancy or business
administration with accounting concentration
OR
Bachelor’s in business with accounting emphasis or business
administration with accounting emphasis or economics with an accounting emphasis AND Master’s in business, business
administration, business education, economics, taxation, finance or the equivalent
(NOTE: A bachelor’s degree in accountancy or
business administration with accounting concentration, with a CPA license is an alternative qualification for this
discipline.)
All candidates must demonstrate
Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage
the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural,
disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPA Certification
- One to two years
of recent experience teaching accounting to college students, especially at the community college level. - Experience working in the
field of tax accounting, and teaching tax accounting to college students - Evidence of an ability to communicate effectively both
orally and in writing. - Evidence of an ability to address the needs of culturally and academically diverse student populations taking
a wide range of courses. - Evidence of the ability to use a variety of teaching strategies that encourage retention while successfully
challenging a diverse student population. - Evidence of innovation, scholarship, or leadership in the teaching of
accounting. - Desire and demonstrated ability to participate actively in the department, division, and college committees and in the
shared governance of Long Beach City College. - Desire and evidence of an ability to take on leadership roles both within the
department and in the institution as a whole. - Ability to work with computers, and use the Internet and interactive technologies to
engage students in on-campus and online courses (where academically appropriate).
LICENSE AND/OR
CERTIFICATE:
Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate valid California Driver’s License.
