The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a new Master of Science (MSc) programme in Data Science and Analytics under the Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode. The programme has been introduced through the School of Computer and Information Sciences (SOCIS) and will be offered as a two-year degree course. According to the official statement, the programme is aimed at addressing the increasing requirement for trained professionals in data-driven roles across sectors.
The MSc in Data Science and Analytics is structured to develop computational and statistical competencies required for data analysis and problem-solving. According to IGNOU, the programme is open to learners from varied academic backgrounds, including those seeking to upgrade existing skills or shift into data science-related careers. The curriculum focuses on applying data science tools and techniques to practical problems in areas such as business, healthcare, social sciences, and engineering.
Eligibility criteria and fee details
Admission to the programme requires a bachelor’s degree of at least three years’ duration from a recognised university.
The fee for the course has been fixed at Rs 13,000 per semester, excluding registration and development fees, as applicable, according to the official website.

The programme is offered in English medium with a specialisation in Data Science and Analytics. As per official details, students who complete the first two semesters, amounting to 40 credits, will be eligible for a Post Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Analytics if they choose to exit at that stage.
