The College of Business invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor, Accounting at our UB North Campus. The College of Business offers Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programmes in a variety of disciplines, including Accounting. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate accounting courses in support of these programmes. Responsibilities also include developing and delivering course materials such as lectures, assignments, and examinations. Additionally, the candidate is expected to collaborate with fellow faculty members and support other departmental programmes as needed.
Reporting to the Chair, School of Business, the Assistant/Associate Professor, Accounting will be responsible for:
• Preparing syllabi, course materials and supplemental materials as needed;
• Teaching assigned courses from a pre-designed curriculum and utilizing professional expertise to provide high-quality instruction;
• Teaching scheduled classes on the assigned day of the week and time as specified by the University’s published timetable;
• Holding regular office hours and providing academic support to students;
• Offering students timely, constructive and productive feedback on coursework and assessments;
• Utilizing the University’s official Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver, manage and track course(s) and to enrich students learning;
• Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, assignments and course grades;
• Completing student’s assessments inclusive of midterm and final grades, in accordance with University’s policy and deadlines;
• Evaluating student’s performance against defined learning outcomes;
• Creating and maintaining an inclusive, collaborative and supportive learning environment;
• Participating and supporting curriculum review and programme development;
• Teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate accounting courses;
• Participating in students’ recruitment;
• Participating in students’ advisement to assist them in timely matriculation through their programme(s);
• Engaging in research and scholarly activities;
• Assisting in securing external grants and other funding opportunities;
• Attending monthly faculty meetings;
• Participating in in-house and across the academy faculty boards;
• Serving on school, university-wide and external committees; and
• Participating in departmental meetings and professional activities as required.
Qualifications. An earned PhD or DBA in accounting is preferred from an accredited institution, however, candidates with Master’s degrees in accounting will be considered;
• Professional accounting qualifications (CPA, CMA, CIA or equivalent);
• Excellent teaching and industry experiences, preferably in public accounting, or has served at the vice president of finance level;
• Evidence of a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service;
• A strong research focus, appropriate to the level of the appointment;
• Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
• Professional or managerial experience in related area; and
• Evidence of research and scholarship.
