The Commission also asked all the central universities to publish rolling advertisements on their websites throughout the year to address the difficulties faced in getting eligible candidates.
Additionally, as informed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as of November 1, there are 3898 women faculty members in Central Universities. Ad-hoc teachers are also engaged by the universities on a need basis or due to the absence of permanent and regular teachers as a stop-gap arrangement; there are 46 ad-hoc women faculty members in Central Universities.
Further, the Heads of Departments are appointed by the Central Universities in accordance with their Statutes and Ordinances and parameters contained therein, such as seniority, rotation, among others. The data regarding the number of women-headed departments is not maintained centrally.
