Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a master’s degree in accounting and a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in economics or a master’s degree in economics and a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in accounting or an MBA in a related field with 18 graduate credit hours in accounting and economics. The candidate will have excellent analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills, and basic computer literacy. They will also have experience as a productive team member.

Preferred Qualifications
- Academic preparation and teaching experience in all levels of both Accounting and Economics.
- Ability to teach in an additional business or related discipline.
- Community College teaching experience preferred.
- Experience working with culturally diverse students.
- Ability to use technology, including the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS)to enhance teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated commitment to the core values of truth, compassion, fairness, responsibility, respect, and tolerance.
Job Summary
The Instructor of Accounting and Economics will be responsible for teaching courses in both disciplines to a diverse student population. The candidate will actively participate in faculty committees, academic advising, and curriculum development. The instructor must stay abreast of ongoing developments, trends, and issues in instruction within the community college environment.
Specific Job Duties
- To instruct students effectively in the facts, skills, and appreciations pertaining to the assigned Accounting and Economics courses.
- To distribute to all students a course syllabus that covers class requirements, grading procedure, attendance requirements, and course objectives.
- To submit midterm and final grade reports, deficiency notices, attendance records, and any other reports pertaining to the assigned courses.
- To consider the personal and educational needs of students and assist them by seeking help from other college services.
- To inform students of educational and occupational opportunities within the fields of accounting and economics.
- To assist the Dean and other administrators in the development of the curriculum, preparation of course outlines, and selection of textbooks.
- To participate on college committee(s).
- To participate in academic advising.
- To stay abreast of ongoing developments, trends, and issues in Accounting and Economics instruction at the community college.
- To develop an annual professional development plan.
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Career and Technical Education.
