India’s industrial momentum strengthened sharply in December 2025, with the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rising 7.8 per cent year-on-year, marking its fastest pace in more than two years, government data released on Wednesday showed. The reading follows an upwardly revised 7.2 per cent expansion in November, signalling broad-based acceleration across sectors.The pickup was driven by strong growth in manufacturing, mining and electricity, reflecting resilient demand across infrastructure, capital goods and consumer segments. Manufacturing output expanded 8.1 per cent in December, while mining grew 6.8 per cent and electricity generation rose 6.3 per cent.
