Overview of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit to Rajasthan And Gujarat On July 4, 2026
On July 04 2026, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited Rajasthan and Gujarat, inaugurating and laying foundations stones for various development projects.
Key Highlights of Visit:
Rajasthan: During his visit, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly developed, Rs 480 crore terminal building at Jodhpur Airport, designed to handle up to 2 million passengers annually and also launched the Modified Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme to bolster remote regional connectivity, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
- During his visit to Rajasthan’s Balotra, PM Modi laid the foundation stones and inaugurated various development projects worth Rs 1.06 lakh crore, spanning railways, highways, Renewable Energy (RE), and power transmission.
- He inaugurated India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex to the nation at Pachpadra, a massive project developed by Joint Venture (JV)between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and the Rajasthan Government and laid the foundation for Phase-II of the Jaipur Metro Rail Project (over Rs 13,000 crore).
Gujarat: PM Modi inaugurated the CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility, developed at a cost of Rs 7,500 crore under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
29th National Conference on e-Governance Held in Jaipur, Rajasthan
In July 2026, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and Government of Rajasthan organised the 29th National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) at Rajasthan International Centre, Jaipur, Rajasthan.
About NCeG 2026:
Theme: The conference, held from July 1-2, 2026, was inaugurated by Rajasthan Chief Minister (CM) Bhajan Lal Sharma and held under the theme, “Viksit Bharat 2047: AI-enabled, Data-driven & Secure Digital Governance.”
Awards: The National Awards for e-Governance 2026 presented 17 awards across seven categories, comprising 10 Gold awards (Rs.10 lakh each), six Silver awards (Rs.5 lakh each), and one Jury Award.
Outcome: The conference concluded with the adoption of the Jaipur Declaration on e-Governance 2026, which outlines a roadmap for strengthening AI-enabled, data-driven, and secure digital governance across India.
CCRAS Launches Three Research Initiatives to Strengthen Ayurveda Research and Digital Governance
In July 2026, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH(Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homeopathy), conducted the 5th Executive Committee (EC) Meeting of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), the apex research body under the Ministry of AYUSH, in New Delhi, Delhi.
Highlights of the Event:
Diginitaries: The meeting was attended by Hoveyda Abbas, Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser, Ministry of AYUSH; Satyajit Paul, Senior Statistical Adviser, Ministry of AYUSH; N. Srikanth, Deputy Director General, CCRAS; and Deepak Kochhar, Deputy Director–Administration, CCRAS; along with other Executive Committee members.
Key Launches: During the meeting, CCRAS launched three major initiatives: Research Methodology Textbook, CCRAS PRAYATNA 2026–27, and the CCRAS Digital Ecosystem Dashboard, to strengthen evidence-based Ayurveda research, scientific writing, research education, and digital governance in the Ayurveda sector.
DAC clears Rs 52,000 crore Modernisation Plan to strengthen Army, Navy and Air Force
In July 2026, Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence (MoD), granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) worth approximately Rs 52,000 crore for various acquisition proposals of the Indian Army (IA), Indian Navy (IN) and Indian Air Force (IAF).

Sharnbasva University Signs MoU with Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Boost Academic Collaboration
In July 2026, Sharnbasva University, Kalaburagi, Karnataka, signed a 5 year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
- The MoU aims to strengthen academic collaboration, collaborative research, faculty and student exchange, and scientific and cultural cooperation between the two universities.
Highlights of the MoU:
Features: The collaboration will initially focus on Engineering, Technology and Management Studies.
Significance: The partnership is expected to enhance academic excellence, innovation and global exposure for students and faculty of both institutions.
Signatories: The agreement was signed by Bui Thanh Hung of the IUH and Lakshmi Patil Maka, Registrar of Sharnbasva University, in Kalaburagi, Karnataka.

India, Mali launch inaugural export forum to Boost Bilateral Trade & Investment
In July 2026, India and Mali launched the inaugural India–Mali Forum for the Promotion of Exports in Bamako, Mali, under the theme “Reinforcing Trade and Strategic Partnerships”. The forum, jointly organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Mali, the Embassy of India in Bamako and the Malian Agency for the Promotion of Exports (APEX-Mali), aims to enhance bilateral trade and investment.
- The Forum was presided over by the Prime Minister(PM) of Mali’s Transition Government, Major General Abdoulaye Maïga. The Indian delegation was led by Amit Kumar, Joint Secretary (Foreign Trade–Africa), Department of Commerce, Government of India (GoI).
Highlights of Export forum:
Trade performance: India–Mali bilateral trade reached USD 326.61 million in Financial Year 2025 -2026(FY-26) registering 55% growth over FY 25. Supported by India’s Duty-Free Tariff Preference (DFTP) Scheme, Mali has an estimated USD 3.96 billion untapped export potential in the Indian market.
Trade & Business: Mali exports raw cotton, leather, cashew, gum arabic, sesame and lead to India, while India exports pharmaceuticals, cotton fabrics, bicycles, and two- and three-wheelers. The forum also hosted Business-to-Business (B2B), Business-to-Government (B2G) and Government-to-Government (G2G) meetings.
Outcomes: Both countries prioritised cooperation in textiles, mining, energy, agro-industry, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and education, besides discussing trade facilitation measures.
Future Roadmap: Under Vision Mali 2063, Mali announced an Investment Forum on 3–4 December 2026 to showcase bankable projects and attract global investors.
About DFTP Scheme: Launched by the GoI in 2008, the DFTP Scheme provides duty-free market access to Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to promote trade and economic cooperation.

Delhi Government to Launch Rs 8300 Cr Air Pollution Project with World Bank
In July 2026, the Delhi Government led by Chief Minister (CM) Rekha Gupta announced a Rs 8,300 Crore (Cr) programme to tackle the air pollution in the national capital.
- The programme will be implemented with the support of the World Bank (WB).
Air Pollution Project Details
Title: The project is titled as “Clean Air, Healthy Delhi”.
- This project will run in parallel to the existing plans to reduce Delhi’s pollution.
Objective: The project prepared by the Environment Department aims to accelerate the objectives of the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP).
Implementation: The programme will be jointly implemented by the Environment Department, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee, the Transport Department, the Public Works Department, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the Delhi Jal Board, the Delhi Development Authority, the New Delhi Municipal Council and the Delhi Traffic Police.
- The Department of Economic Affairs and the World Bank will also be key partners.

Sikkim mountaineer Tshering Choden Scales Europe’s highest peak Mount Elbrus
In July 2026, Tshering Choden, mountaineer from Sikkim, successfully scaled Mount (Mt.) Elbrus, Europe’s highest mountain peak located at an altitude of 5,642 metres (m).
- The successful ascent represents a major milestone in her ongoing Seven Summits challenge, which involves climbing the highest mountain on each of the seven continents.
Key Details:
Previous Summit: Also, this marked her 2nd successful ascent in the Seven Summits challenge. Previously, she had scaled Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m), the highest peak in Africa, in August 2025.
Mt. Elbrus: It is part of the Caucasus mountain range, and is located near the Georgian border in the south of Russia.
Twin Summits: It is a dormant stratovolcano, featuring two summits i.e. West Summit (at 5,642 m) and East Summit (at 5, 595 m).
Seven Summits: Mt. Elbrus is one of the Seven Summits which include Mt. Everest (Asia), Aconcagua (South America), Denali (North America), Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mount Vinson (Antarctica), and Mount Kosciuszko (Australia).

State Bank of India to Acquire NHB’s 10% Stake in RDCL
In June 2026, the State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest and oldest Public Sector Bank(PSB), announced the acquisition of the National Housing Bank’s (NHB’s) 10% stake in RMBS Development Company Limited (RDCL), a middle-layer Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) focused on residential mortgage-backed securitisation.
Key Details of Acquisition:
Shareholding Change: Following the transaction, the National Housing Bank’s (NHB’s) shareholding in RDCL will decline from 39% to 29%.
Impact: The acquisition will strengthen RDCL’s role in developing a deeper secondary mortgage market by enabling banks and non-bank lenders to pool housing loans, convert them into tradable securities, unlock capital, improve liquidity, and support fresh lending.
About RDCL: RDCL was established in 2024 with a paid-up capital of Rs.500 crore to deepen India’s Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS) market.
- LIC holds a 10% stake in RDCL, while HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Bajaj Finance hold 7% each. Aditya Birla Housing Finance, Tata Capital Housing Finance, Truhome Finance, Grihum Housing Finance, Hero Housing Finance, and IIFL Home Finance each hold a 5% stake.

ISRO Conducts First Ground Test of SOLVE for Gaganyaan Crew Module Parachute Validation at Sriharikota, AP
In July 2026, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully conducted the first ground test of the Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments (SOLVE), at the Static Test Facility in Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh (AP).
- The test validated the solid motor for integrated parachute trials of the Gaganyaan Crew Module by using ISRO’s SOLVE, a solid motor-based test vehicle that simulates deceleration at altitudes between 10 kilometre (km) and 17 km before human spaceflight.
About Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments (SOLVE):
Objective: To test the Crew Module’s deceleration system, parachute deployment, and safe recovery under realistic mission conditions for Gaganyaan.
Features: It is equipped with a modified Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) strap-on motor using slow-burning solid propellant, a straight nozzle with Secondary Injection Thrust Vector Control (SITVC), and a 10-stage parachute deployment system.
Significance: It provides a cost-effective and flexible platform for repeated validation of critical crew safety technologies, reducing technical risks by identifying and resolving issues before human missions while strengthening India’s human-rated spaceflight capabilities and crew safety systems.

Australia Clinched 7th Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Title by Defeating England in Finals
The 2026 International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s Twenty20 (T20) World Cup was held from 12 June to 5 July 2026, culminating in the final at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, England, where Australia defeated England by seven wickets chasing down 151 with 153/3 in 17.1 overs to secure a record-extending seventh title.

Overview: The 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was the 10th edition of the biennial international cricket tournament for women in the Twenty20 International (WT20I) format, hosted by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) across seven venues.
Format: Twelve teams competed in two groups of six in a round-robin format. The top two from each group advanced to semi-finals.

Legendary Pandavani Singer and Padma Awardee Teejan Bai Passed Away
In July 2026, renowned Pandavani singer and Padma awardee Teejan Bai passed away at the age of 70 in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. She was born on 8 August 1956 at Ganiyari village in Durg district, Chhattisgarh.
- The Government of India (GoI) honoured Teejan Bai with the Padma Shri (1988), the Padma Bhushan (2003) and the Padma Vibhushan (2019) for her contribution to the field of art.

Profile: She dedicated her life to transforming Pandavani from a regional folk tradition into an internationally acclaimed art form, celebrated for her powerful voice, commanding stage presence, expressive style, and tambura rhythm.

World Rural Development Day 2026 – July 6
the United Nations (UN) observed the 2nd World Rural Development Day (WRDD) on 6 July 2026 Observed globally to raise awareness about the importance of rural developments, reducing rural poverty and hunger, strengthening food systems and accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through increased investment in rural communities.
- The day also commemorates the establishment of Dhaka (Bangladesh) based Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) on July 6, 1979.
Background:
Resolution: On 6 September 2024, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted Resolution A/RES/78/326, proclaiming 6 July as World Rural Development Day.
Observance: The first World Rural Development Day was observed on 6 July 2025.
Edition: 2026 marks the 2nd observance of World Rural Development Day.
Why Rural Development Matters:
Poverty & Inequality: Nearly 80% of the world’s poorest people live in rural areas, with over 1 billion people experiencing multidimensional poverty. Around 50% of rural populations lack health coverage compared to 22% in urban areas.
Food Security: Family farms produce nearly 80% of the world’s food, while women account for 43% of the agricultural workforce but continue to face challenges in accessing land, finance and technology.
Climate & Digital Divide: Rural communities are highly vulnerable to climate change, while internet penetration remains below 50% in rural areas compared to 83% in urban areas (2024), highlighting the digital divide.
World Zoonoses Day 2026- July 6
World Zoonoses Day is observed annually across the globe on 6 July to raise awareness about diseases transmitted from animals to humans and promote their prevention and control.
Background:
Commemoration: The day marks the anniversary of Louis Pasteur administering the first human rabies vaccine.
Milestone: In July 1885, Louis Pasteur administered the rabies vaccine to nine-year-old Joseph Meister, who had been bitten by a rabid dog.
