The six colleges covered by the September 16 government order will account for 600 seats, while the additional Coimbatore institution will contribute another 60 seats.
Tamil Nadu Nursing College Project Cost
The government order permits the Tamil Nadu Dr M.G.R. Medical University to establish the six colleges at an estimated expenditure of around ₹270.26 crore, or approximately ₹45.04 crore per college. The expenditure will be met from the university’s own funds.
The new colleges are expected to initially use the existing infrastructure of the respective government medical colleges. The proposed B.Sc Nursing intake for 2026-27 will be subject to the required statutory approvals and affiliations.
