The Executive Board of the Indian School of Business (ISB) has extended the tenure of Dean Madan Pillutla for a second five-year term, the institution announced on Friday.
The extension comes as ISB celebrates its 25th anniversary. The Board said the decision reflects its confidence in Pillutla’s leadership as the institution enters its next phase of growth.
During his first term as Dean, ISB introduced the Post Graduate Programme in Management for Young Leaders (PGP YL), launched I-Venture Immersive (ivi) for aspiring entrepreneurs, and rolled out ISB Discover, a digital platform that translates faculty research into practical insights for businesses and policymakers. The school also redesigned the curriculum of its flagship Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP).
ISB said its flagship PGP was ranked 12th globally in the Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2026, while the school was placed fifth in the LinkedIn Top MBA Programs 2025, which assesses career outcomes of MBA graduates.
The institution also highlighted progress during Pillutla’s first term in expanding scholarship support, strengthening engagement with students, alumni and industry, and increasing philanthropic contributions to support research, faculty development and institutional growth.
Announcing the decision, Harish Manwani said the school had strengthened its academic and research standing, expanded its programme portfolio and deepened global partnerships under Pillutla’s leadership.
Responding to the extension, Pillutla said he was honoured to continue leading the institution and would focus on strengthening ISB’s contribution to developing responsible business leaders and advancing research relevant to business and society.
Pillutla has been associated with ISB since its inception, having taught the founding batch of the PGP programme and served as Area Leader for Organisational Behaviour. Before becoming Dean, he was Professor of Organisational Behaviour at the London Business School.
